ISM Frequencies | Zo

ISM Frequencies is a quarterly radio show exploring the world of sound for Refuge Worldwide from the Institute for Sound & Music. Each episode the ISM invites artists to create an audio piece that dives into sound and the cultural impact it can have on us and the world around us. Expect found sound, ambient, experimental, field recordings, far reaching electronic music and more, all interwoven into a hour long mix.

For the inaugural episode, ISM has invited interdisciplinary artist Lea Fabrikant and visual musician Tarik Barri, who together go under the name, Zo. When asked about what their mix was about, they wrote:

We created a mix of sounds and recordings which mesmerise us, pieces which introduced textures and harmonies unknown to us from a wide array of different corners.

These are sounds which inspire and challenge our ears as well as our hearts: different ways of expressions, some purely traditional, some influenced by traditions, and others challenging them. This is a mix of what for us are hidden precious pearls
