Ros Serey Sothea was Cambodia’s most beloved female pop singer of the civil war era, until her mysterious disappearance in the killing fields of the Khmer Rouge. Ros´s music remains relatively unexplored and inaccessible outside of south east asian communities, so we have invited expert Gregory Cahill to tell us more about her life alongside a special selection of her music.
Gregory Cahill is an American author and director. In 2006 he directed a short film about Cambodian singer Ros Serey Sothea “The Golden Voice” and has just released a graphic novel of the same title. Gregory is a board member of the Cambodia Town Film Festival, and a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
This show was produced in collaboration with Creative Studios Berlin.
