As fall approaches, ANIMA SGN presents Enyang Ha playing some cozy tunes live at Refuge Worldwide in Oona Bar.
Enyang Ha, a South Korean-born Berliner, creates a fluid blend of pop, post-rock, and experimental music. Ha moved to Berlin over a decade ago to immerse herself in the city’s vibrant music scene. With a fascinating background—growing up in South Korea, studying in Tokyo, and spending formative years in Kentucky, USA—Ha brings a unique cultural sensitivity to her sound. As an in-demand technician, she’s collaborated with visionary artists like Arca, Amnesia Scanner, and Glasser. For her debut album "NAME OF YOUR LIGHT" (2023), she took on the roles of producer, mixer, and mastering engineer at her Berlin studio in the iconic Funkhaus complex, crafting a sound that’s both universally resonant and distinctively raw. She unfolds in Korean vocals over intricate layers of electronic beats and symphonic modular synths. Embracing themes of reincarnation and rebirth, the album reinvents itself at every turn, merging diverse genres without losing coherence. Written during a transformative time in her life—while pregnant and raising her son—Ha reflects, “It’s not simple to find a path to be born again; it requires a lot of strength and will."
