The Neighbourhood Character

Ari Robey-Lawrence is a Berlin-based cultural researcher, electronic music producer and DJ from the SF Bay Area and Austin, TX. Her experiences of nightlife in Berlin, combined with studies in art & art history, film, and visual media inspired her to embark on research situated around marginalised constituencies and their creative production in cultural industries. Her research focuses on nuances of politics and/or praxes of difference engaged by intersectional and QTIBPOC electronic musicians, performers, and other cultural workers. In 2014, she earned her Masters in Visual Media and Anthropology from Freie Universität, and continues to do research around collaboration in marginal communities in creative industries club cultures as a doctoral candidate in Media & Communications at Goldsmiths University of London.
