Southern Lights

Daniel is the founder and co-curator of Naarm (Melbourne) and Amsterdam label, Southern Lights. Southern Lights exists to nurture emerging and established artists that push the boundaries of dark and elemental music by providing a platform to release high-quality, thoughtfully designed physical editions of recordings and digital works.

As a DJ, his sets are a reflection of how he curates the label: taking in all things esoteric and forward-thinking; from ambient, drone and dub-infused sounds through to raw, hypnotic and experimental techno, as well as rare occasions where he showcases his love of early US house, garage and UK tech house sounds.

Spanning near-20 years as a DJ, his sets have seen him play at Southern Lights label nights, iconic Naarm-based institutions such as Billion Underground, Machine and Melbourne Techno Collective parties, festivals such as Stereosonic and Kiss My Grass and former host of Kiss FM’s “Drowned in Sound” radio show, championing vinyl as his sonic weapon of choice and drawing from a deep collection of 2000+ records.
