Mirna Bogdanovic

At the age of two, Bosnian-Slovenian vocalist Mirna Bogdanović had already faced more hardship than most, forced to flee her country with her parents at the hands of war. Now firmly established on the German jazz scene, she’s made a name for herself as an emotive singer, composer, and bandleader. Bogdanović studied classical piano and jazz vocals at various music colleges around Europe and finished her degree at the Jazz Institut Berlin (2017). At the time of her studies, she won the Downbeat Student Award and was part of the National Youth Big Band (BuJazzo). Bogdanović released two albums since 2020, both of which have won the Deutscher Jazzpreis. "Confrontation" (Klaeng Records) was crowned "Debut Album of The Year" in 2021 and ‘Awake’ is currently “Album of The Year” in 2024. Both albums were also nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award 2023 (Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik) and have received critical acclaim. Besides her work with “Mirna Bogdanovic Group”, she’s also active as a side woman and guest musician. Mirna has collaborated with the Radio TV Big Band Slovenia, Cotatcha Orchestra, Wanja Slavin’s Lotus Eaters, Ken Thompson’s, Lingua Franca, and more. In February 2025 she is going to perform with the Swiss Jazz Orchestra. Next to music, she is also the program manager of the Berlin jazz club Donau115.

...Bogdanovic offers an astounding vocal range and technique, which is completely innovative and combined with her marvelous compositions offers a deeply moving sonic experience, which stands out high above the standard recorded output...
