Mari Sakurai

Mari Sakurai is a DJ based in Tokyo. She is one of the most active DJs in the city playing a wide range of venues and events, from Boiler Room and Red Bull Music Festival to some of the most underground parties in the scene. Her powerful style incorporates experimental elements and freely moves between various genres with techno at the core. Over the past few years, she has established herself at the forefront and as one of the driving forces in contemporary dance music in Tokyo, not only as a DJ but also through promoting her own events and taking part in activism. She is a co-founder of a ground breaking queer party "SLICK,” which started in 2020.
