Majazz Project

Majazz Project is a record label and research platform based between Palestine and London borne out of and inspired by vintage Arab and Palestinian sounds. Majazz Project has amassed a huge collection of rare tapes and vinyl from the Middle East and North Africa, spanning everything from field recordings of weddings to synth-heavy 80s funk. It is built out of creative collaboration between Arab and non-Arab DJs, producers and artists interested in shedding new light on the richness and diversity of Arabic musical heritage. Majazz Project recently released their first reissue, Riad Awwad’s The Intifada 1987 (available through Bandcamp) and has a show on NTS Radio. They programme regular parties at Servant Jazz Quarters and Finch Café, where they also have a pop up store selling Arab and global vinyl.
