DJ Dino

DJ scholar Jordan Brown pays homage to her hometown, San Bernardino, California as DJ Dino. She loves to play sensual, hard-hitting, genre-bending tunes that help release stress from the body. She's been DJing in Southern California's grassroots art scene since late 2020.

DJ Dino is a doctoral candidate studying Anthropology at the University of California, Riverside, and a DAAD fellow/visiting scholar at Humboldt Universität. She is currently working on her PhD field research under the working title: "Collective Memories of Care: Liberatory Harm Reduction on the Dancefloor".

The project traces the history of liberatory harm reduction as a theory and practice that prioritizes bodily autonomy. DJ Dino works under a Black feminist theoretical lens to chart how participants and workers in Berlin's queer nightlife scene deal with and mitigate institutional violence on the dance floor.
