Cult favourite selector Baba Noir has become one of the most reliable party-starters in Naarm / Melbourne. Baris Agkoc migrated from Istanbul to Melbourne in 2011 along with his prized collection of rare vinyl, and remains intimately connected with both classic and modern music from his mother country. He’s a versatile DJ with eclectic and deep record bags, ranging from Turkish-Anatolian pop, psych, funk, and folk, to contemporary Middle Eastern dance-floor cuts. In the club he deftly blends warm, dusty grooves, recontextualising sounds from traditional instrumentation into dancefloor burners.

With his recent Skylab radio program “Anatolian Delights”, and a dedicated following that flocks to his monthly “Baba’s House” and “Baba Spritz” event, Baba Noir has become established in Melbourne as an expert and cherished ambassador of the rich musical history of his homeland.
